Makerspace

The certified makerspace, home to woodshop, jewelry and ceramics, will be closed April 15 to April 29. The second makerspace (drawing, painting, textiles), the classroom, and retail space will be open during this time.

The makerspace at the Art Spot features supplies, tools and equipment for artists of all abilities to use and create with. The makerspace includes a ceramic studio with eight pottery wheels and a kiln, and supplies and space for woodworking, painting, drawing, jewelry making and print making.

Daily drop-in admission or membership will provide access to the tools and equipment in the makerspace as well as basic supplies. Patrons will need to either bring their own or purchase supplies such as canvases; clay for the ceramics studio (after your introductory 12.5 lbs); linoleum, copper and acrylic carving sheets for printmaking; and metal for jewelry making. Please visit the retail space inside the Art Spot for available supplies and pricing.

Woodshop

Ages: 18 years and older, ages 16-17 with an accompanying adult

Advanced Orientation: Every Saturday 11 a.m. to noon and Tuesday 11 a.m. to noon by request. Contact the Art Spot for more information or for special requests.

Woodshop Hours:

Thursdays: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Ceramics

Certified Ages 16 years and older, ages 12-15 with a ceramics certified accompanying adult. “Ceramics certified” means a person has taken a ceramics class at the Art Spot or can provide proof of recent ceramics experience and has taken the ceramics orientation.

Ceramics Hours:

Tuesday through Friday: OPEN to 5:30pm (when classes are in session) otherwise OPEN TO CLOSE (See class calendar for ceramic studio closers for classes)
Saturday through Sunday: Open to Close

A 30-minute advanced ceramics orientation is available Tuesday through FRIDAY from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from a front desk personnel. Advanced orientations are for advanced ceramic artists with ceramics knowledge. We encourage new or intermediate makers to take ceramics classes at the Art Spot to get acquainted with the ceramics process first. Contact the Art Spot to schedule or for more information.

Community Expression Wall

The community expression wall provides community members with an opportunity to practice street art, spray painting and large-scale mural painting on a legal wall in Silverthorne. The expression wall is located outside the Art Spot and community members are welcome to practice on the wall free of charge. The wall will be open on a first come, first serve basis from dawn to dusk. Artists will need to supply their own paint and equipment. The community expression wall is open for all ages.

Artwork painted on the community expression wall is not permanent. The wall will be painted white every few weeks. No inappropriate or hateful work will be allowed and any installations with hate or obscenities will be removed immediately.
